HEALTH PROVIDERS

After growing up in West Burlington, Iowa, Dr. Buechel attended Arizona State University, where he graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Zoology. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1997 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his graduate studies he was selected for and completed an internship with the Dean of the Technique Department, Dr. Richard Burns. Upon graduation, he joined Alderwood Back and Neck Pain Clinic in Seattle, Washington, as an associate chiropractor. This clinic specialized in auto accident and work related injuries. In 1998 he moved to Pacific Beach where he has lived and practiced for the last decade.
Dr. Buechel has a passion to help not only patients, but his community as well. In 1999 he began volunteering on the Pacific Beach Town Council board and has served as its president in 2002. He currently is a director on the board of the PB Business Improvement District (Discover PB) and chairs the Health and Fitness Committee. He serves for the California Chiropractic Association (CCA) as a Membership Director. In 2003, he received the Robert W. Botterman Award for Outstanding Community Leadership, given by the CCA. He has been voted “Best Chiropractor in Pacific Beach” by the readers of the Beach and Bay Press (organically) in 2007. He has volunteered for the Pacific Beach Kiwanis Club, and was instrumental in the organization of the PB Special Events Committee with Councilman Faulconer. He is a fellow of the American Back Society.
Professionally, he is certified (2002) in manipulation under anesthesia (C.M.U.A.) and has performed over 12 cases with excellent outcomes. Seeing the lasting effects of this technique and wanting to bring more comprehensive care to his patients, Dr. Buechel brought multiple healthcare disciplines together to streamline patient care in the clinic where he treats. As the clinic director, he has seen that incorporating appropriate instruction in diet and home exercise with non-traditional pain management which includes microdose therapy, healing touch, manipulation, homeopathy and metabolic typing, as well traditional physical therapy, acupuncture, massage and psychological therapy in care plans has shown to get the best results with patients. Incorporating coaching techniques and active patient care allows therapy to continue without doctors’ visits and that can mean lower recidivism into pain. Integrative medicine is proving to be very effective for holistic healing. By bringing together medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists, psychotherapists, hypnotherapists, healing touch practitioners, massage therapists, nutritionists and patient advocates…patients are getting better, faster.
In addition to family care, the clinic accepts personal injury and worker’s compensation cases. We are providers for almost every major medical insurance carrier. Our staff and in-house biller is trained on the importance of timely reports and medical record requests and work diligently to stay abreast of new developments in billing, coding and legal issues for med-legal cases.
