Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.
The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. In addition, Doctors of Chiropractic recognize the value and responsibility of working in cooperation with other health care practitioners when in the best interest of the patient.
Conditions often referred for chiropractic treatment include but are not limited to: back pain, neck pain, joint or foot pain, dislocated joints, arm or leg pain, headaches, hip pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, fibromyalgia, nutritional counseling and weight management.

The Integration of Chiropractic with your Health
You may visit the chiropractor at least every 3 months for the maintenance of your body and to determine if spinal dysfunction is present. You should consider visiting the chiropractor more often after stressful events such as a car accident, a sports injury, the birth of a child, or over working your spine.
It’s important to remember that a chiropractor, like a dentist, is committed to your long term health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
It is easier to prevent spinal problems than to correct them, which is why chiropractors recommend regular visits even when you are pain free. Remember, once your body has experienced pain, that is your body’s way of communicating that there is a problem and you need to visit your chiropractor immediately.

What Can I Expect at a Chiropractic Visit?
The chiropractor will conduct an exam with a health history and physical exam with the patient clothed. For a treatment, called an adjustment, the patient would lay down on a chiropractic table and the chiropractor would position them into different position to adjust different parts of the spine and/or extremities. A chiropractor will use many different styles of treatments. Usually when an adjustment is made there is a small quick motion by the doctor and the patient experiences a release type feeling. The patient will rarely feel any discomfort. After an adjustment it is normal for the patient to sometimes experience mild soreness as the body readjusts.
